During the BitamShow2023 event, Pablo Hontoria and Albert Reverter were awarded the prize given by AV Integración Audiovisual to ADTEL, in recognition of the 4G public address integration project for emergency situations during the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, on the island of La Palma.
The main objective of this project was to provide information and prevention services to the population in the event of emergency events, through the strategic installation of 30 RF and IP public address points in different municipalities of La Palma.
Throughout the development of the project, various obstacles were encountered that complicated implementation, such as extreme weather conditions, emission of harmful gases, deterioration of radio frequency towers by volcanic lava, and poor coverage due to the rugged topography of the terrain.
To overcome these challenges, the installation of digital equipment capable of receiving orders via 4G was proposed, thus providing a more efficient response in areas with low coverage where it was not feasible to install analogue equipment. Both PA models are managed by the AirVoice Wireless PA Gateway transmitter, allowing a successful multi-system PA deployment.
